Kenwood High School conducts mock Texting and Driving Crash

Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, April 6th, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Kenwood High School Football Field, Amy Grubbs Jackson’s KHS Drama Students, Clarksville Police Department’s Traffic Unit, Clarksville Fire & Rescue, Montgomery County EMS, Dispatch and Vanderbilt’s Life Flight staged a head-on crash caused by texting and driving.

The photos posted on the CPD’s Facebook page tell the story from when the first responders arrived on the crash scene to the end of the scene. The KHS Drama students posed as the victims and friends or family of the victims.

What is not revealed in the photos is the audio of what was going on while the students were watching the crash scene demonstration. Radio information between the first responders and the dispatcher boomed over loudspeakers as sirens blared and emergency lights flashed.

Mrs Jackson has been a teacher at KHS for 16 years and is involved in Broadcast Media—Speech/Drama/Debate Team & Video Production. Mrs Jackson’s students did a great job today acting out what the victims and the family or friends go through during a horrific event.

Our first responders did a great job demonstrating how teamwork comes into play between Police, Fire and Rescue, EMS, and our lifeline—the Dispatchers! Great Job everyone!

Scenario Victims: 1 deceased on scene, 1 transported by Life Flight to Vanderbilt Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, and 4 transported by EMS to a local medical facility.
