Corey Farlow gets Rivers and Spires off to a great start

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – On Thursday afternoon, April 14th, the 14th annual Rivers and Spires Festival started up in downtown Clarksville. There was a slight rain in the afternoon, but it tapered off, clouds parted, giving great weather to kick off the event.

The Quilts of the Cumberland exhibit at Madison Street United Methodist Church opened to the public at 5:00pm. The quilts had been judged earlier in the day so those attending rushed in to see the award winning quilts.

At 5:30pm, a Trunk Show was held in a room near the quilt show. Starr Howell was the guest host and gave a free program entitled “Our Quilts tell Stories”. Howell is a member of the Music City Quilt Guild of Nashville Tennessee.

“The quilt show is really a good way to show all of the talent we have in our area,” said Dana Fucella. “There are a lot of talented women in our area.”

Most people visit Rivers and Spires for the great music and Thursday night was no exception. “I have been coming to Rivers and Spires every year for the past 4 years with my friends,” stated Hallie Morgan. “I really like the music and I can not wait to see Corey Farlow later tonight.”

Some vendors were setup near city hall. There was a variety food available from kettle corn to grilled corn, burgers and even fried snickers bars.

The rain earlier in the day did not keep people away from the event. As time for Corey Farlow to go on approached, hundreds of people had gather around the Public Square Stage area to see him perform.

Farlow took the stage a little before 8:30pm to the excitement of the crowd. In no time, he had people on their feet tapping and clapping to country cover songs as well as his own songs like “Country Never Stops” and “Burnin’ Me Up”.

He got the party started and kept it going. What a great artist to start off the Rivers and Spires Festival.
