Although Austin Peay and Jacksonville State (28-14, 17-0 OVC) have been playing each other since 1993, it is one of the least-played OVC series in Govs history (only 35 games), with the Gamecocks holding a 25-10 advantage.

The Tennessee Tech (16-27, 7-10 OVC)-Austin Peay series, on the other hand, is the second-most played in Govs history (90 games total), dating back to the 1986 season. APSU trails the series 72-18.

Offensively, Austin Peay is led by a pair of first-year players, with redshirt freshman Kacy Acree and true freshman Danielle Liermann putting up some of the best numbers in school history for newcomers. Liermann enters the weekend leading the team with a .359 batting average from the third-base position, with 46 hits, nine doubles, a triple and a team-best five home runs to go with 29 RBIs.

Liermann’s RBI total is an APSU freshman single-season record, breaking the old mark of 27 set during by Daniella Hooper and Ashley Taylor in 2007.

Acree, APSU’s right fielder who missed last season after knee surgery, is hitting at a .353 clip, with 41 hits, including 10 doubles, two triples and four home runs. She also leads the team in runs scored with 25.

In the circle, junior Autumn Hanners leads the Govs’ pitching staff with a 3-13 win-loss mark, with a 4.17 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 82.1 innings of work this season.

Fellow juniors Allie Blackwood (2-0) and Christiana Gable (1-1) have the other wins for Austin Peay this season.
