A tri-meet featuring the Governors, Bears and Murray State, Austin Peay will send the majority of its team to Springfield this week for another round of preparations for the OVC Championships.

On a national stage, Savannah Amato and Dascha Hix remain the Governors with the highest profiles. Amato ranks 34th in the East Region with a 4.01m (13′ 1.75″) in the pole vault, while Hix’s 3.72m (12′ 2.5″) at last weekend’s APSU Invitational moved her to 90th regionally. The duo rank first and third, respectively, in the OVC.

A week off may have done the trick for Kymmalett Ross. After sitting out last weekend, Ross looks to improve on her 12.11 in the 100m dash (fifth in the OVC) and 24.32 in the 200m dash (fifth in the OVC) in Missouri.

Senior Breigh Jones and junior Terri Morris look to enter the OVC’s top-five in the 400m dash. Jones (55.50 at last week’s APSU Invitational) and Morris (55.53) rank sixth and seventh, respectively, in the event among OVC competitors. Junior Myiah Johnson also looks to break into the top-five; she sits in sixth in the 100m hurdles (14.14).

Junior Chancis Jones, who posted a season-best 5.71m (18′ 9.0″) in the long jump last week, ranks fifth in the conference but looks to improve her standing as well; her defense of her 2015 OVC Outdoor long jump title is less than a month away in Nashville.

The Governors are scheduled to wrap up the pre-OVC portion of the 2016 outdoor schedule next weekend at the Memphis Invitational.
