Tennessee Titans select Middle Tennessee safety Kevin Byard with the 64th overall pick in the NFL Draft

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans took Middle Tennessee safety Kevin Byard in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft with the 64th overall pick.

The 5’11”, 216 pound Byard ran the 40 yard dash in 4.44 seconds at the NFL Combine. He has a 38 inch vertical jump, made a 9 foot broad jump, benched 22 reps of 225 pounds and ran the short shuttle in 4.15 seconds.

At Middle Tennessee last season, Byard had 66 tackles, 4 interceptions and 6 pass breakups in 12 games. In 49 career games played, he had 19 interceptions (returned 4 for touchdowns), 312 tackles and forced 24 turnovers.

Byard has great ball skills and a strong intelligence for football. He is good in zone coverage and responds quickly to the ball. He has good footwork, good awareness, reads routes well and rarely makes mistakes in combination routes.
