Tennessee Titans take Alabama RB Derrick Henry with the 45th overall pick in the NFL Draft

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Alabama Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the second round with the 45th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The 2016 Heisman Trophy winner is 6’3″ and weighs 247 pounds. At the NFL Combine, Henry ran a 4.54 second 40 yard dash, had a 37″ vertical jump, a 130.0″ broad jump and run the 40 yard shuttle in 11.50 seconds.

At Alabama last year, Henry rushed for a school and Southeastern Conference record 2,219 yards. He had 5.6 yards per carry and averaged 147.9 yards per game. His 28 rushing touchdowns was an SEC record.

Henry won Alabama it’s second Heisman Trophy. He also won the Doak Walker and Maxwell Award. He was selected as the Walter Camp Player of the Year.

He is a big running back with great speed for a player his size. He is great at falling forward when tackled to get those extra yards. He wears down defenses and rarely tires.

Henry will join DeMarco Murray in the Titans’ backfield. Tennessee acquired Murray from the Philadelphia Eagles during the off season.
