Dunbar Cave State Natural Area to hold Junior Ranger Day Camp June 15th – 17th

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – It is our pleasure to announce Dunbar Cave State Natural Area’s third annual Junior Ranger Day Camp. This camp is designed for children ages 8 and 9 years old. Programs will help children build a better relationship with the great outdoors and have fun, while learning.

Camp will be held from 9:00am to 12:00pm, Wednesday – Friday, June 15th – 17th. Participants must attend all three days to earn a Tennessee State Parks Jr. Ranger certificate and badge.

Topics that will be covered are the following: Safety, Bats and Cave, Plants, Insects, Water Critters, and Birds of Prey. Campers will also do a service project to help out the park and its wildlife.

This project may include picking up litter helping to beautify the park. A schedule of activities and a list of requirements will be sent to campers once they are registered.

This camp is provided free by the State of Tennessee State Parks. It is limited to the first 30 participants to be registered. Reservations will be taken from 8:00am – 4:30pm, May 17th – 31st at 931.648.5526.

There are two ways to become an official Tennessee State Parks’ Junior Ranger. One is to attend a camp. If child(ren) is/are unable to go to a camp, then interested kids ages 6-14 may complete a series of activities found in the Junior Ranger Adventure Guide.

The sign-up process is easy. To get started, sign up for a Junior Ranger Camp by contacting the office of participating state parks. Free Junior Ranger Adventure Guides are available at any state park.

The state parks’ Junior Ranger Program is designed with flexibility in mind so that participants can choose their own path and set their own pace. Junior Rangers, along with their families, can enjoy exploring parks, touring visitor centers, attending park programs, hiking the trails and experiencing all the fun and exciting adventures Tennessee’s great state parks have to offer.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).

Age limits are definite – please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.
