Montgomery County TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – In conjunction with National CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) week, June 1st-7th, Montgomery County Emergency Medical Service (MCEMS) conducted a “Hands Only” CPR training for County Government employees.

MCEMS recently received 1,000 CPR manikins for distribution to the public through an American Heart Association grant.

The CPR manikins are part of a program designed to allow participants in the “Hands Only” training to take the manikins home, with the hope that they will in turn teach those in their household the technique.

EMS Director Jimmie Edwards states, “As we deploy these 1,000 CPR manikins in to the community over the coming year, it is our hope that we are actually training well more than 1,000 people. This grant gives us the opportunity to quickly, within 5-10 minutes, train members of the public proper hands only CPR and its proven that when CPR is administered, the survival rate of the patient greatly increases.”

The kickoff training is the beginning of the 1,000 manikin community training effort. This training is not the full CPR certification class, this is a brief (5-10 minute) hands only training. If you are interested in having a hands only training for your community group, civic organization, church group, etc, please contact Bill Webb at wcwebb@mcgtn.net.
