It only takes a small amount of time for the burglars to get what they can and leave the scene before being detected, especially if the equipment is left in an unlocked vehicle or left in plain view without being locked down.

The most popular item of interest has been leaf blowers; however, trimmers and gas tanks have been stolen as well.

The CPD advises that EVERYONE keep unattended vehicles LOCKED. We also advise that lawn care business owners start securing easily accessible lawn care equipment when they leave those items unattended.

Vulnerable Locations for Lawn Care Businesses- Places the Equipment May Be Left Unattended:

  • Subdivisions- where lawn care employees are less likely to notice the thieves because they are busy mowing or working.
  • Gas Stations
  • Businesses that Sell Lawn Care Equipment

Remember: If you see suspicious activity, call 911. An Officer will be sent out to assess the situation.

If you have information about criminal activity or a crime that has already occurred, call the CrimeStoppers TIPS Hotline at 931.645.TIPS (8477).
