Montgomery County Sheriff’s Active Duty K9 Titan Passes Away

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office beloved German Shepard K9 Titan passed way Sunday night from complications from gastric dilatation volvulus surgery.

Titan has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2014. He was born in Herzebrock-Clarholz, Germany on September 30th, 2011. Before arriving in the United States in 2013, he received his Schutzhund title.

To receive the Schutzhund title, dogs must possess a disposition suitable for demanding work and complete three phases of training. Tracking, Obedience, and Protection.

Few dogs are able to complete the training.

Titan was known for his high energy and loyalty. He loved going to work and searching, whether it was for drugs, contraband, evidence, or people.

Most recently, Titan help gather evidence and apprehend suspects involved in the May 6th, 2015 shooting incident involving Deputy Liberatore. During the incident suspects repeatedly shot at Deputy Liberatore and his patrol car after refusing to pull over for a traffic stop.

“As a K9 handler I always knew this day would come, but it still did not make it any easier,” said Titan’s handler Deputy Dale BeCraft. “He is more than a dog, he is part of our family.”

A memorial service will be held for Titan at the Sheriff’s Office at 120 Commerce Street on Friday, June 24th at 2:00pm.
