Clarksville Gas and Water reports Hampshire Drive Water Outage

 

Sunday, June 26th, 2016

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has turned off water service on Hampshire Drive to repair a water main leak. Area residents may also experience low water pressure during the work.

The repair is anticipated to be finished and water service restored by approximately 4:00am Monday morning.

Late Night Shooting Leads Clarksville Police to Arrest

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department responded to gunfire on the parking lot of a Clarksville nightspot on the 400 block of North Second Street at about 2:35am Saturday morning, June 25th, 2016, when an argument over a woman inside a pool hall moved outside and became physical.

Harvey Sanders, a 36-year-old black male Clarksville resident allegedly fired several rounds from a .380 caliber Taurus pistol, striking two people.

Nashville Sounds blast three homers in 9-4 win over Omaha Storm Chasers

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds hit three home runs including one from Oakland A’s outfielder Josh Reddick in a 9-4 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers in front of 7,562 fans Sunday night at First Tennessee Park.

Bruce Maxwell added a solo blast and Renato Nunez launched a two-run shot to help Nashville (45-33) bust out of an offensive slump.

Aaron Kurcz set the tone in a spot start for the Sounds as he retired the first six batters he faced. He went on to throw 3 2/3 scoreless innings. The bullpen combination of Ryan Brasier, J.B. Wendelken and Andrew Triggs went the rest of the way in the win.

Pick Tennessee Products Names Its Best Local Products For 2016

 

The Tennessee Department of AgricultureNashville, TN – Six Tennessee food makers claimed winning titles at the 2016 Pick Tennessee Products tradeshow held in Nashville during the recent Tennessee Grocers & Convenience Store Association’s Food Expo. The products, all produced in Tennessee and part of the Pick Tennessee Products program, were judged on originality, taste and packaging.

Javaneh Hemmat’s “Hummus Chick” won first place, dubbed the “Pick of Tennessee.”  Hummus Chick is a Nashville based company built around freshly made varieties of hummus packaged for retail and wholesale markets.

Tennessee Ranks in Top Five as Retirement Destination

 

Tennessee Department of TourismNashville, TN – Tennessee has been named No. 4 in a recent analysis of the 10 Best States for Retirement 2016 by Kiplinger.com, a Washington, D.C.-based publisher of business forecasts and personal finance advice. The report rated all 50 states based on quantifiable factors that are important to retirees.

Affordability, especially in terms of lower taxes on retirees and lower health care costs, was a key factor in the research. The economic health of the state, as well as the overall health of the population, was also taken into account. States with prosperous populations of residents age 65 were also important in the comprehensive analysis.
