Clarksville’s Independence Day Celebration set for July 3rd, 2016

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville will celebrate our nation’s independence this year with the ninth annual Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, July 3rd, 2016 at Liberty Park. The event is free and open to the public.

Activities and music will begin at 6:00pm Seating is available throughout the park and the concerts will take place on the Great Lawn of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. Concessions are for sale throughout the park.

Parking at Liberty Park

Parking is available inside the park for vehicles with handicap license plates and placards. Marina users must have approved vehicle tags or a temporary pass.

Boats with trailers will be allowed to access the boat ramp parking area until 4:00pm or until the parking area has been filled.  For safety reasons, no boats will be allowed to exit the area beginning at 8:00pm and until the park is empty.

Additionally, Zinc Plant Road and the Zinc Plant Bridge will be closed to all traffic from 9:15pm to 10:00pm for the fireworks show.  Guests should expect long delays on Riverside Drive and Highway 48-13 prior to and after the event.

Liberty Park Grill Customers

Liberty Park Grill will be operating under normal hours of 11:00am until 10:30pm on July 3rd, 2016. Beginning at 4:00pm, guests can pay a fee of $20.00 to park at the restaurant. Each paying vehicle will be given a $20.00 voucher redeemable for food and drink at Liberty Park Grill. Offer is valid on Sunday, July 3rd, 2016 only.

Satellite Parking

There are three satellite parking locations available for visitors beginning at 4:00pm. In order to assist with parking, Clarksville Transit System (CTS) will be offering free rides to and from the event from several locations close to the park.  First, for those people who want to park downtown, buses will begin departing the downtown parking garage at 4:00pm. Parking in Historic Downtown Clarksville is free all day Sunday.

Second, the Riverside Church parking lot on Riverside Drive will also be open for parking.  A CTS shuttle will run through this location to Liberty Park.  It is expected that this lot will fill quickly and once the lot is full, the shuttle will not continue to pick up guests for transport to the park.

Additionally, the parking lot at 1312 Highway 48/13, the School System Facilities Building, will be open. This is the old Jostens Facility off of Highway 48/13, just past Liberty Park. All shuttles will continue their loop until 9:15pm. There will be a slight pause in service during the fireworks.

The shuttles will each be marked with their destination. Please make sure you remember which lot you parked in, and return to that corresponding bus.

At the conclusion of the fireworks show, CTS buses will begin returning guests to these parking areas with the last bus departing from Liberty Park promptly at 11:00pm.

The Clarksville Police Department will be stationed at all major intersections in the area around Liberty Park and Riverside Drive beginning at 6:00pm and continuing after the event.  For safety reasons, pedestrians walking to the park are encouraged to cross at these intersections.

As a general reminder, in order to prepare for the event, Liberty Park will be closed at sunrise on Sunday, July 3rd for all activities except the Independence Day Celebration and will reopen to the general public at sunrise on Monday, July 4th, 2016.

Safety in Liberty Park

With the large turnout expected for this event, please remember the following safety precautions and Rules of Liberty Park:

  1. No roaming solicitation.
  2. No pets allowed during event. Clearly marked service animals are permitted.
  3. No drugs or alcoholic beverages allowed.
  4. No fighting or foul language allowed.
  5. No personal fireworks.
  6. No personal grills.
  7. No weapons.
