Austin Peay State University hires Marcelius Braxton as new director of APSU’s Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has hired Marcelius Braxton as the new director for the APSU Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center effective July 1st.

Braxton previously worked at Missouri University of Science and Technology, where he served as a student service coordinator for the University’s Student Diversity, Outreach and Women’s Programs (SDOWP).

In his capacity as student service coordinator, he was the director of the SDOWP Mentoring Program, Diversity Leadership Council, Minority Introduction to Technology and Engineering Summer Camp and the Missouri S&T HBCU Partnership Program.

He was also the advisor for the Missouri S&T chapters of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and the Black Man’s Think Tank (BMTT).

Braxton received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy, economics and political science with a certificate in African studies from the University of Pittsburgh. He also received a master’s in philosophy from the University of Missouri and his juris doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
