Clarksville, TN – A Clarksville Police Department District Three patrol officer discovered a crashed motorcyclist near the intersection of Tiny Town Road and Cainlo Drive at 5:11am today, July, 2nd, 2016.
Officer J. Katz radioed that he could not find a pulse on the individual; the motorcyclist was later pronounced dead at Tennova Heathcare in Clarksville.
The driver of a red truck was detained at another location. Joseph Karnes, a 24-year-old Waverly resident, has been arrested for Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident and Vehicular Homicide. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
Test results are pending from a blood draw done by search warrant.
CPD Traffic Investigator Larry Harris is leading the investigation.
This case is being investigated as a hit-and-run collision.
