Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Board Announces New Board Leadership

Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development BoardClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board announces that Billy Atkins has been named chairman of the board of directors for the 2016-17 year.

A native Clarksvillian, Atkins began a career in banking in 1960.

In 1998, he began the process of forming Legends Bank where he now serves as chairman of the board and chief executive officer for both the bank and Legends Financial Holdings, Inc., parent company of Legends Bank.

He is a past president of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce, where he received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. He was also instrumental in forming the Economic Development Council. Among his extensive community involvement, Atkins is well-known for his active involvement with Austin Peay State University in both academics and athletics.

Named to vice-chairman of the board is Carl Wilson, retired CEMC general manager. Filling the role of secretary-treasurer is Jeff Turner, president at Ajax Turner Distributing.

About the Industrial Development Board

The Industrial Development Board was established in 1963 to maintain and increase employment opportunities by recruiting companies to locate in Clarksville-Montgomery County. The organization is governed by 15 board of director members, nine of which are voting members and are appointed by Montgomery County Commission; six are ex-officio.
