The male stated he was going to set himself on fire, and if the police showed up he would shoot them or make them shoot him.

The Dispatcher then advised that the male left his home with a gas can and lighter and was approaching medics who were staged at Glenellen Elementary School. Officers Lanham, Simulis, and Forfang positioned their vehicles in a manner that prevented the male from passing them.

Without fear of personal harm, they immediately jumped from their vehicles and took the male to the ground. They made sure to knock down the Molotov cocktail he had burning in one hand; as he attempted to pour gas on his body from the gas can he had in the other hand.
