Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) fills Administrator Positions

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) has selected three candidates to fill administrator positions for the upcoming school year.

Current assistant principal, Scott Wainwright, has been appointed to serve as the principal of New Providence Middle School.  Rossview Middle School teacher, Jenette Spurbeck, has been chosen as an assistant principal at Clarksville High School (CHS).  Richview Middle School (RIMS) teacher, Lisa Courson, has been selected as an assistant principal at RIMS.

Scott Wainwright

Wainwright has been an assistant principal at New Providence Middle School since January 2004.  He taught history at Richview Middle School for five years.  Prior to his career in education, Wainwright served nine years as an instructor pilot in the United States Army, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

He earned both his Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis on educational leadership and curriculum and instruction, and his Bachelor of Science in history and geography from Austin Peay State University.

In response to his appointment, Wainwright stated, “I am honored to be selected to lead New Providence Middle School.  We have an amazing faculty and staff, and I am looking forward to continuing the excellent work that has been done to care for and teach our students.”

Wainwright has completed the McRel Balanced Leadership Framework training, was a participant of the CMCSS Aspiring Administrator program, and has completed the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports training at Vanderbilt.

Jenette Spurbeck

Spurbeck has been a teacher with CMCSS since 2008.  She served at Richview Middle School, Northeast Middle School and Rossview Middle School (ROMS).  Her experience as a business banker at Bank of America in Aiken, South Carolina for five years, as well as branch manager of South Trust Bank in Augusta, Georgia, for two years, provides relevant career experiences that will enhance Clarksville High School’s Academy of Business and Finance.

Spurbeck earned her Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Lipscomb University, her Master of Arts in Education from Cumberland University, as well as her Bachelor of Science, with a major in sociology and a minor in business administration from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas.

Additionally, she worked as the ROMS summer school administrator in 2015, the lead teacher of the ROMS after school program in 2012, and completed managerial coursework through Bank of America’s training programs.

Lisa Courson

Courson has been a teacher for CMCSS since 2003.  She has served as a fifth grade teacher at Kenwood Elementary School, a fifth grade teacher at West Creek Elementary School and currently teaches eighth grade science at Richview Middle School.  She has engaged in numerous professional experiences such as, lead mentor, curriculum work and facilitator for CMCSS, STEM training facilitator, externship mentor, and presenter for Tennessee Department of Education’s science workshops.

Courson earned her certificate in educational administration from the University of Tennessee in  Knoxville, her Master of Arts in Education and Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in literacy from University of Missouri-Columbia, and her Bachelor of Science in Education from Austin Peay State University.
