Clarksville’s Downtown Kiwanis Club receives UPS Grant

Kiwanis Club of ClarksvilleMontgomery County, TN – The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville (Downtown) was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the UPS Foundation.

This is the second year that Kiwanis has been awarded this grant and it will be used to continue to support children’s literacy in our community.

Kiwanis President Phillip Tucker states, “Each year Kiwanis provides books to third graders in twelve elementary schools of the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. This book distribution program began in the 1980’s and last year alone, 2,000 books were given out! This initiative is made possible, in part, through UPS Foundation grant. We appreciate UPS believing in our mission and are grateful for their continued support. ”

The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville (Downtown) was formed in 1920 and is now comprised of over 100 active members. Founded on the principal “Young Children: Priority One”, Kiwanis works to improve the lives of youth throughout our community through events such as local Key Clubs, the annual Interview a Veteran essay contest, hosting a Children’s Christmas Party, and the Reading is Fundamental program to name a few.
