Clarksville City Judge Charles Smith spoke at 108th annual Lone Oak Picnic

Election 2016Cunningham, TN – On Saturday, July 30th, 2016 City Judge Charles Smith talked at the 108th annual Lone Oak Picnic put on by the Central Civitan Club.

“I am the City Judge. I have had the privilege of being in that positive for 15 years now. I am on the ballot in November,” Smith stated.

“I have talked to a couple of folks out here today that said they had voted for me. I appreciate that vote. But, it’s so confusing that you have some judicial races on the August ballot and the city judge race is on the ballot in November,” said Smith. “Remember in November as your voting for other candidates, when you get to the city judge position, vote for Charles Smith.”

“I think experience is important. During my tenor as city judge we have handled between 400,000-500,000 cases. You gain a little experience when you handle that many,” stated Smith.

“I grew up in a community much like Cunningham. It was in Rutherford County outside Murfreesboro. It was a little community that didn’t have quite the name as Cunningham. It was called Loafers Rest. I know loafers always need to find a place to rest. I grew up in a somewhat rural area,” Smith commented. “My family were somewhat farmers. We had hogs, chickens and all of those things. I understand the range of individuals that appear in front of city court.”

“My experience as a judge has been invaluable. Whether your cooking BBQ, or having a house painting, or hiring a welder, an attorney, or whatever, one of the things you ask is what experience you have. The experience I have had allows me to fairly, ethically and legally address those issues that come before city court,” Smith said.
