Nashville Sounds shutdown Round Rock Expess 3-0

 

Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX – Nashville Sounds right-hander Jharel Cotton just missed a perfect game and settled for a one-hit shutout in the Sounds’ 3-0 win over the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond Tuesday night.

Cotton, recently acquired in a trade by the Athletics, retired the first 26 batters he faced on the night. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Round Rock second baseman Doug Bernier lined a 2-1 pitch to the right field wall for a triple to break up the bid at perfection.

The Virgin Islands native struck out a career-high 12 in the dominating effort. With Bernier at third, he punched out Drew Robinson for the final out of the game.

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationJackson, TN – Special Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death this afternoon of a TBI Special Agent during the course of an ongoing drug investigation.

Preliminary information indicates Special Agent De’Greaun Frazier was one of several agents working alongside the Metro Narcotics Unit during a controlled buy this afternoon around 2:00pm in a vehicle in the area of Brianfield Cove.

It will be a new-look unit under first-year head coach Will Healy that greets the Governors faithful into the rechristened Fortera Stadium, with five home dates dotting the schedule in 2016.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – First Responders from a dozen local agencies were recognized for their service to the community at Yellow Creek Baptist Church on Sunday.

Pastor Phillip Chambers started First Responder Appreciation Day with a special service dedicated to law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel. After the service church members served lunch to first responders and their families.

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University head baseball coach Travis Janssen filled out his coaching staff for the 2016-17 season, hiring Brandon Romans as an assistant coach and bringing David Weber on board as a volunteer assistant coach.

Romans will be the Governors recruiting coordinator, hitting and outfield coach. Weber will assist with the Govs catchers, team and camp operations.

Clarksville Police report Arrest made in connection with October 2014 Murder of Joshua Simpson

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On August 8th, 2016, the Clarksville Police Department, with assistance from Nashville Police Department Tactical Unit, made an arrest in connection with the October 2014 murder of Joshua Simpson.

The arrest was of Leonard Tyrone Talley of Nashville, TN. These charges were handed down by the August term of the Montgomery County Grand Jury.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has turned off water service on a section of Powell Road and in the Riverbend Landing Subdivision to repair a water main leak.

The water outage will affect residents on Powell Road from south of Amberley Drive to East Accipiter Circle including all of East Accipiter Circle, West Accipiter Circle, Colin Court and Piter Road.
