Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – A new academic year brings a host of new faces into the Austin Peay State University athletics family, with an ever-expanding department bringing an increased demand for talented staff.

Two additions were made in the academic services area. Ryan Combs, recently of Belmont, joins the department as an academic coordinator working alongside Austin Peay’s soccer, baseball and women’s basketball programs. In addition, Kara Carpenter joins the department as an advisor to the football team after spending last season at Texas A&M-Commerce. She graduated from Western Carolina in 2013.

Also coming to Austin Peay by way of Texas A&M-Commerce is Kevin Young, who joins the athletics communications department as a manager—Young will oversee the day-to-day media relations for Austin Peay’s football and tennis programs.

A 2008 graduate of Anderson University, Young also has worked at Western Carolina, Wofford and Lees-McRae College.

In athletic training, Lindsay Gamble joined the APSU staff after completing her education at Clemson, earning her master’s degree in August. She comes aboard as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and will work with the volleyball and softball programs.

Joining the strength and conditioning staff is Chris Laskowski, a former member of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts and NFL Europe’s Frankfurt Galaxy. Laskowski, a 2009 inductee into the Florida Atlantic Athletics Hall of Fame, comes off stints at Old Dominion and Virginia before joining Austin Peay as Director of Football Performance.

Rounding out the new faces among the departmental staff is Wade Johnson, who joins the staff as Director of Sponsorship Sales. Johnson is part of the Peak Sports Management family, which Austin Peay partnered with in July to sell corporate sponsorships, expand market presence and provide additional staffing. Peak Sports Management represents several other Division I NCAA athletics departments including Abilene Christian, Central Arkansas and Southeastern Louisiana.
