Fort Campbell Soldiers provide Artillery support for Iraqi security forces with indirect fires

Kara Soar Base, Iraq – U.S. Soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)  Task Force Strike conducted fire mission from Kara Soar Base Iraq, during an operation in support of the Iraqi Army, June 14th, 2016.

Fire missions are one way the coalition enables the Iraqi Army to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

Advise and assist teams enable Iraqi security forces as they prepare for upcoming operations by sharing intelligence and helping develop security strategies and targeting plans.

The assistance and support these Soldiers provide demonstrate the commitment of the United States as part of a Coalition of regional and international nations joined together to defeat ISIL and the threat they pose to Iraq, Syria, the region and the wider international community.
