Senior Erik Hedberg brought the Governors home with a three-over 73 on the day, earning him a tie for 36th for the two-day event (70-75-73=218).

After opening his day with bogeys on two of his first five holes, Hedberg rallied back by shooting two-under for his next six holes.

After a second-round 81, junior Justin Arens also had a nice comeback Tuesday, shooting three-under for his final seven holes and finishing plus-two on the day. He finished with a three-round 226 (73-81-72), one shot ahead of freshman Austin Lancaster. Lancaster, a Hendersonville native, was the day’s big mover for the Govs, shooting a one-over 71 that was Austin Peay’s best final-round score.

Junior Hunter Tidwell (79-77-76=232) was the only other counter besides Hedberg to shoot all three rounds in the 70s. Freshman Michael Busse (90-83-88) also competed toward the Governors team score, while Alex Vegh (73-79-76) closed out strong in his first collegiate event as an individual.

“I’m pleased at the way we bounced back after yesterday,” said head coach Robbie Wilson. “We are going to evaluate our play and work on our games as we prepare for Inverness.”

The Govs return to action next week at the Inverness Intercollegiate, hosted by Toledo, at Inverness Club. The two-day event begins September 19th.
