Clarksville Driver Arrested After Striking Police Officer and Fleeing at Lincoln Tunnel in Manhattan

The Port Authority of New York and New JerseyNew York, NY – On September 18th, at about 7:00pm, Port Authority Police at the Lincoln Tunnel in Manhattan encountered the suspect driving a red Chevrolet CZT with Tennessee plates.

The suspect was alone in the car stopped in traffic and told police she did not want to continue on to westbound to NJ. Police instructed her to continue driving west.

The suspect ignored the instructions and maneuvered her auto so that she was facing oncoming traffic.

When officer approached her car she locked the cars doors , rolled up the window and proceeded to drive against oncoming traffic.

The suspect drove into one PAPD Officer knocking him to the ground. The suspect continued driving across an underpass at 39th Street and then east on 40th street.

The suspect was being followed by police and passed a steady red light on 10th avenue and turned north on Dyer Avenue. A Port Authority Police car blocked her path there and the suspect was placed under arrest.

The injured officer was treated for an injured wrist at an area hospital. The suspects’ vehicle was impounded.
