The win for the Governors (6-4-0) snaps a four-match losing streak against the Eagles (3-6-1).

In addition, it’s APSU’s second road win in the series – the first occurring in 2005.

“It’s a great feeling,” head coach Kelley Guth said. “You spend the last six weeks preparing for this opportunity of starting OVC play. This league is such a tight battle in each and every matchup, so for us to come away from Morehead with a win tonight is a great accomplishment for our team.”

APSU Soccer - Kirstin RobertsonJunior forward Kirstin Robertson continued her offensive spark, scoring her fourth goal in three games and eighth overall this season. In the 13th minute, the Govs won the ball in the midfield, with the resulting pass finding the head of senior Gina Fabbro who looked to attack. On the other end was Robertson, who after making her run, fired a low shot into the bottom left corner.

With her eighth goal, Robertson is now ranked tied for eighth in the nation.

“Kirstin is doing some great things out there on the field,” Guth said. “She has come through in some clutch moments for us, and we want to keep helping develop her confidence. It was great to see her put away the game for us with the game-winner.”

APSU Soccer - Lindsey ToddJunior Lindsey Todd picked up the shutout win in net, playing the full 90 minutes, and came up with five big saves to hold the Eagles scoreless.

“It’s so important with our goalkeeping that we have someone who is confident and has composure,” Guth said. “I thought Lindsey showed that tonight, which is something she has challenged herself to work on and be that for our team.”

The Governors finished with a 12-8 shot advantage, with eight of those credited to a combination of Robertson (four) and Fabbro (four).

Austin Peay will take the weekend off before traveling to UT Martin next Friday, September 30th for a 7:00pm, kickoff against the Skyhawks.
