APSU Volleyball travels to Murray State, Eastern Kentucky

APSU Women's Volleyball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – After a successful Ohio Valley Conference-opening weekend at home, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team begins a four-match OVC road trip this week with a pair of matches in Kentucky.

The Govs first face Murray State in a 7:00pm, Tuesday contest that will kickoff the “Battle of the Border” presented by Heritage Bank. Austin Peay then travels to Eastern Kentucky for a 1:00pm (CT), Saturday contest.

A Rotation Of Knowledge

  • First Battle of the Border
    Tuesday’s contest at Murray State will be the first meeting in the “Battle of the Border” presented by Heritage Bank. The multi-sport competition will award points for intercollegiate contests between the two programs.
  • Win Streak Stays Alive
    With its two OVC-opening wins last weekend, Austin Peay ran its win streak to six matches – tied for 14th longest in Division I. The Governors have claimed 18 of their 19 sets during the win streak.
  • Teeter Nabs Newcomer Honor
    For a second straight week, junior Kaitlyn Teeter was named the adidas® OVC Newcomer of the Week. She averaged 4.50 kills per set in the Govs 2 OVC wins last weekend, while running her double-digit kill streak to 7 matches.
  • Stucker Sets the Stage
    Sophomore Kristen Stucker ended the weekend as the OVC’s assists leader (72nd nationally), averaging 10.33 helpers per set. Stucker averaged 13.00 assists per set last weekend while adding 12 digs and a team-best five blocks.
  • Offensive Pace Quickening
    The Govs finished the weekend as the league’s most efficient offense with an OVC-best .218 attack percentage. The Govs were second in kills, averaging 13.22 per set.
  • Spreading the Love
    Despite ranking as one of the OVC’s top offenses, the Govs do not have a player ranked among the league’s Top 10 in kills. Juniors Ashley Slay (2.93 kills per set) and Kaitlyn Teeter (2.88) as well as sophomore Cecily Gable (2.76) are just outside the league’s Top 10.
