The group needs about 30 spouses of veterans in the civilian workforce to participate in focus group interviews as part of the research project.

The focus group sessions are 60-90 minutes and will be at various times October 31st and November 1st at Clarksville City Hall, 1 Public Square, Suite 200.

To register, email Jenna.Perminas@cityofclarksville.com or call 931.645.7451.

The coalition includes the City of Clarksville, Workforce Essentials, Austin Peay State University, Montgomery County, Fort Campbell, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services and Tennessee Career Centers.

The project is designed to gain an understanding of the traits and behaviors successful veterans exhibit in their job search and which employer efforts aid the transition into successful employment.

The project already has interviewed successful veteran employees and collected data from 10 public and 10 private sector employers on what makes a successful veteran on the job.

The goal of the research is to provide:

  • Guidance for veteran job candidates and employees.
  • Guidance for employing organizations on how to better onboard and mentor veterans.
  • Guidance for military/civilian organizations on how to better prepare veterans to be successful candidates and employees.
