Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Art on the Park Contest Winners

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is happy to announce the winners of this year’s Art on the Park Contest.

Not only will winning artists paint their artwork on the skate park walls, but the winning musician will perform live at the Art on the Park event on Saturday, October 15th at the Heritage Park Skate Park, located at 1241 Peacher’s Mill Road.

Winning Artists:

  • Elizabeth Bell, Age 21
  • Makenzie Ward, Grade 10 at Northeast High School
  • Jeremy Vega, Grade 12 at Northeast High School
  • Mallory Thornton, Grade 11 at Northeast High School
  • Shaina Messenger, Grade 11 at Clarksville High School
  • Alexia Sarrias-Revell, Grade 11 at Clarksville High School
  • Kurt Thomack, Grade 11 at Clarksville High School
  • Breanna Todt, Grade 11 at Clarksville High School

Winners received a $25.00 cash prize, custom t-shirt featuring their design, and the opportunity to paint their artwork on a pre-selected skate park wall. A mentor provided by Art Link will assist with the painting.

Winning Musician:

Rufus Dawkins

A competition was held at Wicked Good Sandwiches on September 24th for all musicians that entered. One winner was chosen and received a free E.P. recording and the opportunity to perform live on October 15th.

Guests to the Art on the Park event on October 15th will be able to talk to artists about their work on display, listen to live performances by the musicians, and enjoy skate demos and clinics. The event is free and open to the public. Food and drink will be available to purchase. All are welcome to attend.

This is the fourth Art on the Park contest held by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department. This contest takes place every two years in an effort to beautify the Heritage Park Skate Park and to deter graffiti.

Art on the Park is sponsored by Porter Paints, Sacer & Savive, Art Link, No Egrets Tattoos, Clarksville Living Magazine, and Wicked Good Sandwiches.
