APSU Men’s Tennis Completes Louisville Fall Invitational Over the Weekend

APSU Men's Tennis - Austin Peay State UniversityLouisville, KY – The Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team competed at the 2016 Louisville Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday hosted by Louisville.

In the D singles flight, James Mitchell reached the semifinals after opening play with a pair of wins – he was the only Gov to advance past their second match. Mitchell started with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Matthew Momper from Bellarmine.

In his second match, Mitchell squeezed out a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win over Graham Reindold from Dayton. Mitchell’s run ended after he fell 6-2, 6-4 to Egehan Sertkaya from Illinois State.

The Govs doubles duo of Almantas Ozelis and Aleh Drobysh moved to the semifinals in the B doubles flight. The Govs topped Santiago Salazar and Michael Quang of Louisville, 8-5, in their opener before topping Jacob Perkins and Jonas Brezing from Wright State, 8-4. The Govs fell in the finals in the tie breaker, 8-7(4), to Shakeel Manji and Turner Voges from Memphis.

APSU will wrap up their fall slate with the Ohio Valley Regionals that start on October 20th and run through October 24th.
