Kristen Stucker named APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore setter Kristen Stucker, of the Austin Peay State University volleyball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Stucker recorded 78 assists in two matches last week, assiting on more than 75 percent of the Governors 103 kills. Her 44 assists against Jacksonville State led Austin Peay to season-highs in attack percentage (.377) and three-set kill total (56).

The Johnston, Iowa, native earned adidas® / Ohio Valley Conference co-Setter of the Week along with Murray State’s Hannah Stultz, her second share of the weekly award in 2016 and the sixth time a Governor has earned weekly hardware from the conference this season.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included

  • Sophomore Wesley Gray, of the men’s cross country team, led the Govs to a fourth-place team finish in the 38-team field at the JennaStrong Invitational in Wilmington, Ohio, with the Peoria, Arizona native clocking in at 16th with a 25:38.10 mark.
  • Sophomore Sean Butscher, of the men’s golf team, earned a fifth-place tie at the 2016 F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, shooting career 18- (69), 36- (146) and 54-hole (218) lows in the process.
  • Senior quarterback Timarious Mitchell, of the football team, rushed for a score and passed for a score in the Governors trip to third-ranked Jacksonville State, Saturday.
