APSU Volleyball hosts Murray State Wednesday, First of Four Game Homestand

APSU Women's Volleyball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The sixth competition in the Heritage Bank Battle of the Border highlights the start of Austin Peay State University volleyball team’s four-match homestand.

The Govs, second in the Ohio Valley Conference, will host league-leading Murray State in a 6:00pm, Wednesday contest as part of the Battle of the Border series.

Austin Peay then hosts Morehead State in a 1:00pm, Saturday affair.

Austin Peay will look to carry forward the momentum it built during an impressive October that saw it post a 10-1.

The Governors have won their last four matches and 16 of their last 18 contests. Austin Peay also owns a five-match home win streak that dates back to September 13th.

A Rotation of Knowledge

  • Battle of the Border (And OVC)
    Wednesday’s contest against Murray State will be the sixth competition in the Heritage Bank Battle of the Border. However, it also will pit the OVC leading Racers against 2nd-place Austin Peay in what promises to be a pivotal league outing with 2 weeks left.
  • Slay, Stucker NAB Adidas/OVC Honors
    Junior Ashley Slay was named the OVC’s Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, Monday. In addition sophomore Kristen Stucker nabbed her fourth Setter of the Week plaudit.
  • Gerig Makes The Back Row Work
    Freshman Ginny Gerig had her best week as a Governor, posting 58 digs (5.27 per set) in last week’s three matches. That total included a career-best 29 digs at SEMO, four shy of the school record.
  • Teeter Making Strides
    Junior Kaitlyn Teeter posted a 16-kill performance at Southeast Missouri, the latest step in her return from an upper body injury to start October. She was second on the Govs with 34 kills (3.09 per set) last week.
  • Twenty And Ten
    The Govs 20-win campaign is their 11th in program history and first since 2010. APSU’s also hit 10 OVC wins for the 10th time in program history and for the first time since 2012.  
  • Among The Nation’s Most Improved
    Entering this weekend’s action, Austin Peay is the 3rd most-improved club in Division I, its 21-8 record an 14-game improvement over last season’s 6-21 mark at the same time.
