Montgomery County Animal Care and Control releases October 2016 Statistics

Montgomery County Animal Care and ControlMontgomery County, TN – In an effort to make the public aware of the animal problem in Montgomery County, Montgomery County Animal Care and Control has released the statistics on the intake, adoption and euthanasia.

In October, Montgomery County Animal Care and Control took in a total of 458 animals (260 cats, 195 dogs, 2 rabbits and 1 guinea pig).

Of these, 105 were owner surrenders (52 cats, 51 dogs, 1 rabbit and 1 guinea pig); 2 dogs were placed under protective custody due to cruelty cases, 7 animals were abandoned (1 cat and 6 dogs) and 327 animals were brought in as strays. 6 dogs were return adoptions.

On the out take side, 315 animals were processed out of the facility: 169 were adopted to new homes (66 cats, 102 dogs and 1 guinea pig); 110 transferred to rescue organizations (44 cats, 65 dogs and 1 rabbit); and 36 happily reclaimed by their owners (3 cats and 33 dogs).

Sadly, 166 animals were euthanized (136 cats, 29 dogs and 1 rabbit).
