Clarksville, TN – Produced by The Downtown Clarksville Association, First Thursday Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour spanning a 5-block radius that combines visual art, live music, engaging events and more in the heart of Downtown Clarksville.
With 10+ venues, bars and businesses participating each month, the First Thursday Art Walk in Clarksville is the ultimate opportunity to savor and support local creative talent.

Edward’s Steakhouse is proud to host local artist, David Smith, during the December First Thursday Art Walk.
Santa Claus, himself and his elf will be at Edward’s that evening as well. Bring the children or yourself to have pictures made with Santa. All proceeds to benefit the Humane Society.

Artist Information
The Roxy Regional Theatre’s Peg Harvill Gallery is proud to feature the work of local photographer, Donald Groves during the December First Thursday Art Walk. The gallery will also feature a “Community Wish List” for patrons to add their wishes to through the month of December.
Donald LC Groves is a professional opera and musical theater singer based in New York City. He has been lucky enough to travel the country performing and taking pictures. His portfolio spans the country from The deserts of New Mexico to the wilds of New York City. He looks for beauty in nature as well as the manmade.
Because photography runs in his family Donald has been exposed from an early age to wonderful photography and art. Having a grandfather and father who were both professional photographers has helped to shape his photographic eye and artistic vision.
The combination of a rich artistic life through singing and performing and traveling has melded with a broad aesthetic upbringing in the world of art and photography. The result is a rich and varied portfolio of images shot with Donald’s unique perspective.
The gallery will only be open from 5:00pm to 6:30pm due to a performance of “The Happy Elf”. Additional gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am – 2:00pm.

Downtown Artists Co-op (96 Franklin Street)
The DAC is an association of talented local artists and interested patrons dedicated to promoting the visual arts in the Clarksville/Montgomery County area.
Our objectives are to sponsor art exhibitions of work by Co-op members and regional artists, to provide continuing support for the Co-op and its membership through the sale of art work, to encourage arts education with outreach programs and scholarship fundraisers, and to develop membership services which directly support the arts community.

Downtown Artists Co-op (DAC) is proud to announce our 16th Annual Holiday Exhibit and Bazaar! This annual DAC and community tradition features affordable, smaller works of fine art and one-of-a-kind crafts, all made by all our 40+ talented members. Just in time for the Christmas season, the DAC Bazaar offers great gifts and fantastic deals on original works of art by our local artist members.
The opening reception for the DAC Annual Holiday Bazaar will be on December 1st from 5:00pm till 8:00pm. The DAC will be serving up delicious appetizers, holiday goodies, punch and wine for the opening. There will be art, craft, music and merriment, so please join us.
As always, the DAC opening is a central part of Clarksville’s “First Thursday Art Walk”, a wonderful evening of art, music and more in beautiful Historic Downtown Clarksville. First Thursday Art Walk occurs regularly on the first Thursday of each month.
On December 3rd DAC will host an Open House from 9:00am-5:00pm. This event will feature all members’ holiday-themed work, plus a warm and welcoming DAC Gallery featuring refreshments like cookies and warm cider. Come see us and #shoplocal and #GiveTheGiftOfArt this season.

Hops Java & Juice is proud to local artist, Olasubumi Bashorun, during the December First Thursday Art Walk.
Olasubomi was born in Lagos State, in the southwestern part of Nigeria. In his early years he realized his given talent for art. The passion followed years later when he noticed what creating art did for him internally. At first, he didn’t believe he could make a living as an artist, so he pursued other endeavors as a young adult.
Then he realized there was nothing else he would rather do other than to share not only his art, but the therapeutic aspect, all art forms can offer. In his youth he moved to the U.S. and graduated college in Oklahoma. Today he lives in Clarksville, TN.
Olasubomi runs an entertainment art studio, which teaches acrylic and oil painting, drawing and dance. One of his life goals is to open a nonprofit that will take these teachings into low income schools that cannot afford the arts programs, mental hospitals, children’s hospitals, retirement homes and nursing homes.
Olasubomi hopes to grow as an artist and be a strong force in the very competitive world of romance art. However he just wants people to understand that art no matter the form, art is therapy and we all need it.

The Framemaker is proud to present Emergence by photographer, Sara Straussberger. This exhibit is part of Clarksville’s First Thursday Art Walk on December 1st, 2016. An opening reception will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The exhibit will remain on display at the Framemaker throughout the month of December during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 10:00am to 5:00pm).
The artist’s process transforms banal objects that would typically occupy a space of only two or three feet into vast natural landscapes. These objects no longer exist in an environment—they become the environment.
The Framemaker is located at the corner of North Second Street and Georgia Avenue, across from the Clarksville Academy.

Surroundings: The Art of Darryl Steele

Nashville, Tennessee artist Darryl Steele depicts landscapes, birds, and other wildlife. His work is a showcase of mediums and methods, working in oil, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, and pencil, often striving to incorporate the qualities of one medium into the other. It has been included in many private and public collections around the world, including the collections of The Opryland Hotel, Vanderbilt University, and Nissan Corporation
October 27th – January 4th
Anton Weiss was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. His family moved to Springfield, Tennessee after World War II, and then to Nashville. His abstract expressionistic art has influenced many and is in several collections. Anton Weiss was heavily involved in the regional arts scene beginning in the 1960s.
He was director of the art department at Watkins and helped with the creation of the Tennessee Art League and Tennessee Watercolor Society. Anton continues to paint from his studio in Nashville
Barry Motes: Relationships
December 1st – 30th
Work by artist Barry Motes is on display in the Peg Harvill Gallery. His often surrealistic art investigates spiritual themes and their relationship to the physical world. Barry Motes is a professor of art, and head of the fine arts department, at Jefferson Community and Technical School in Louisville, Kentucky.
Christmas Town
November 15th – January 22nd
Hundreds of porcelain pieces recently donated by the Drye family make up a large display for Christmas Town! There are moving parts and lights, and even a model train making its way through the village.
Cut: An Invitational Exhibition
November 4th – January 16th
This exhibit features work by several artists, all of whom cut materials such as paper, fabric, and aluminum to create their art.
120th Anniversary of Lui Heimansohn

Heimansohn Steel and Salvage is a full service steel and scrap metal business located in Clarksville, Tennessee. Explore 120 years of their history in The Leaf Chronicle Lobby.
Tennessee Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibition
December 1st – February 3rd
A selection of the juried works from the 35th Biennial Exhibition makes its way across Tennessee as a traveling exhibit. The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is the last stop, making this your last chance to see this gathering of watercolor work.
“Her Honeybunch Sweetie Pie is Gone”
December 6th – March 12th
This multimedia exhibit is a visualization of the poem by Stellasue Lee, depicting the tale of a cat’s reaction to her owner’s absence. Stellasue Lee received her Ph.D. from Honolulu University. Now Editor Emeritus at RATTLE, a literary journal, she previously served on the editorial board at Curbstone Press. She lives in East Nashville, TN with her husband artist Eric L Hansen and their two cats, Caylie and Tennyson.
