Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports Two Theft Rings Busted

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOMontgomery County, TN – Investigators with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office have recovered nearly $250,000 in stolen property from two theft rings operating in two states and eight cities.

The first theft ring operated in Montgomery County. The thefts occurred primarily in the Clarksville city limits and Sango area between November 7th, 2016 and November 11th, 2016.

Property recovered so far include a Polaris four wheeler, Hustler Raptor zero turn mower, Dixie Chopper zero turn mower, three flatbed trailers, one box trailer, electric winch, weed eaters, hunting gear, Yeti cooler, saws, generator, and lawn tools.

All property stolen in connection to the two theft rings have been reported. All owners have been notified and recovered property has been returned.

Property still missing are a Hustler Raptor zero turn mower and flatbed trailer.

Marcus Antonio McKay, 31, from Clarksville and Jerry Lee Baker, 40, from Henrietta have been arrested in connection with the thefts.

McKay’s bond was set at $30,000 and Baker’s bond was set at $60,000.

The second theft ring was based out of Montgomery County. Suspects traveled to Dickson, Columbia, Paris, and Nashville in Tennessee and Bowling Green, Fairview, and Hopkinsville in Kentucky to steal or sell property between September and November of this year.

Property recovered so far include a Bobcat planer, Harley power rake, three Kubota zero turn mowers, Kubota tractor, two New Holland skid steers, John Deere mower, and 32 firearms.

Property still missing are two Kubota zero turn mowers, two Kubota tractors, four buckets, two pallet forks, and two trailers.  

According to investigators, at least six people are involved in the second theft ring and a grand jury presentment is scheduled for December.

Todd County Sheriff’s Office assisted in recovering the 32 firearms and a skid steer.
