The theme for the week-long campaign is “It’s Quittin’ Time in Tennessee” to celebrate Tennesseans who have quit using tobacco products and inspire more people to join them.

Coach Will Healy releases APSU Football’s Spring Schedule

APSU Football - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Beginning at 4:00pm, Thursday, February 9th, 2017 at Fortera Stadium, the Austin Peay State University football team will begin spring practice one month early this season in Will Healy‘s second year as head coach.

After opening spring camp on March 21st last year, the Governors coaching staff enters 2017 with a full year under their belt, allowing for a forward-thinking offseason plan.

AAA reports Gas Prices continue Slow Decline

 

AAATampa, FL Motorists continue to see a slow decline in prices at the pump this week. Today’s national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.272 per gallon, which is fractions of a penny less than one week ago, nine cents less than one month ago and 51 cents more per gallon year-over-year.

“Increased domestic oil production and low seasonal demand continue to push gas prices lower,” said Josh Carrasco, spokesman, AAA – The Auto Club Group. “Oil and gas inventories are above-average for this time of year, which should continue to keep downward pressure on pump prices in the short-term.”

Tennessee Titans have Six Game Improvement under coach Mike Mularkey

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Mike Mularkey helped the Tennessee Titans achieve a reversal rarely seen in the 57-year history of the organization. He became the second coach to take over the team and in his first full-time season deliver at least six more wins than the previous year.

Sid Gillman was the first to accomplish the feat with the 1974 club that went 7-7 one year after finishing 1-13.

Clarksville Gas and Water reports Madison Street Lanes Closed

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has closed both eastbound lanes of Madison Street between Liberty Parkway and Crossland Avenue for water service line installation work.

The center turning lane will be designated to eastbound traffic during the work; however, motorists are advised to slow down and be alert while traveling through the work zone.

APSU Women's Basketball - Austin Peay State UniversityBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball senior center Tearra Banks picks up her third adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week award after a record-tying performance over the weekend.

In Saturday’s 79-63 victory over Tennessee State, Banks made all 11 of her shots from the field to finish at 100 percent, tying the APSU single-game record set by Gerlonda Hardin in 2002, who also went 11-for-11.

Clarksville Police reports Single Vehicle Crash and Road Closure at Old Russellville Pike and Centennial Drive

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Currently the Clarksville Police Department is investigating a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Old Russellville Pike and Centennial Drive.

Apparently the vehicle struck a utility pole and power lines are across the road and have completely closed Old Russellville Pike until further notice. The Clarksville Police Department is asking that vehicles avoid the area until further notice.

CPD and other agencies are working to clear the road as soon as possible.

Clarksville’s Dining with the Stars announces Former U.S. Attorney General, Judge Alberto Gonzalez as Keynote Speaker

 

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – Judge Alberto Gonzalez, former U.S. Attorney General, will be the keynote speaker at the 4th annual Dining with the Stars Gala on March 4th, 2017 at 6:00pm at the Riverview Inn.

Presently Judge Gonzales is a member of the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions and he serves on the board of directors for the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Previously he was also an appointee of Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam to the Governor’s Commission for Judicial Appointments and the Governor’s Management Fellows Executive Committee.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water construction crews are repairing a water main leak on Peabody Drive causing a water outage and low water pressure for area residents.

The repair work is anticipated to take several hours to finish and delays are expected to due the inclement weather.

The road is open to traffic.

APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Fans attending Austin Peay State University baseball games at Raymond C. Hand Park will have the opportunity to enjoy the largest baseball video board in the Ohio Valley Conference thanks to a significant gift from the Clarksville-based James Corlew Chevrolet Cadillac dealership, the athletics department announced Monday.

Work began February 1st on the video board installation, which is being constructed by Brookings, South Dakota-based Daktronics.
