APSU Baseball - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN –  Austin Peay State University’s baseball starting pitcher Caleb Powell pieced together a sterling start to lead the Governors to an 8-4 Ohio Valley Conference victory against Jacksonville State, Friday night, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

After a six-hour delay to the start of the contest, Powell (2-0) needed a moment to find his stride, issuing a walk and a single to start the contest.

As strong surface based Canadian high pressure influences build into Middle Tennessee tonight, most locations will experience temperatures falling through the freezing mark late this evening and overnight.

Tennessee House Republicans Fight To Increase Employment Opportunities For Veterans And Their Families

 

Tennessee State GovernmentNashville, TN – On Thursday, March 9th, lawmakers unanimously passed legislation co-sponsored by Representatives Curtis Johnson (R-Clarksville) and Jay Reedy (R-Erin) aimed at increasing private employment opportunities for military veterans and their families.

House Bill 165 encourages private employers to hire honorably discharged veterans, spouses of a veteran with a service-connected disability, unremarried widows or widowers of veterans who died of service-connected disability, and unremarried widows or widowers of a member of the military who died in the line of duty.

Tennessee Titans agree to contract terms with safeties Johnathan Cyprien and Brynden Trawick

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms on contracts, pending physicals, with Safety Johnathan Cyprien and Safety Brynden Trawick.

Cyprien (6-0, 223) has totaled 442 tackles in his first four seasons in the NFL playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars. In three of his four years in Jacksonville, he has finished as one of the team’s top two tacklers, including leading the team in 2014 with 111 tackles.

TBI Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitive Michael Gervais captured in Louisiana

 

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationNashville, TN – Several days after being added to the TBI’s ‘Top 10 Most Wanted’ list, authorities in Louisiana have captured a Hamilton County, Tennessee man accused of raping a child.

Michael Craig Gervais (DOB 2-7-68) was wanted by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to face charges including one count of Rape of a Child and three counts of Attempted Child Neglect. The TBI added Gervais, of Hixson, to its ‘Top 10 Most Wanted’ list on Tuesday.

CMCSS students participate in Diversity Day at Clarksville Lowe’s

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – Students from the Transitions Program of the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System got to spend the day shadowing staff at Lowe’s on Lowe’s Drive, learning how to perform various roles at the home improvement store.

“The Transitions Program works to prepare students for competitive, paid employment after high school,” stated Cassie Allen, CMCSS Transition Coordinator of Special Populations.
