Tennessee Bureau of Investigation releases Amber Alert update on Elizabeth Thomas

 

Tennessee Bureau of InvestigationNashville, TN – Efforts to locate missing high school freshman Elizabeth Thomas remain active and ongoing as the concern about her relationship with former teacher Tad Cummins – and his intentions for her – only heighten the urgency surrounding this ongoing AMBER Alert in Tennessee and Alabama.

Thomas, 15, disappeared on Monday, March 13th and is believed to have been kidnapped by 50-year-old Tad Cummins, a former teacher at her school in Maury County, Tennessee. On Tuesday, the school district in Maury County terminated Cummins in the wake of an ongoing investigation into alleged inappropriate contact he had with Thomas at the school earlier this year.

Tennessee Lady Vols beat Dayton 66-57 to advance in NCAA Tournament

UT Lady VolsLouisville, KY Diamond DeShields scored 24 points, and Mercedes Russell and Schaquilla Nunn posted double-doubles, leading Tennessee to a 66-57 win over Dayton on Saturday in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament at the KFC Yum! Center.

UT (20-11) advances to the second round, where it will meet host and No. 4 seed Louisville (28-7) here on Monday. Tip-time for that game has not been announced.

The Lady Vols surged in the third quarter to take command of the game after an exciting a 29-29 first half. UT limited Dayton (22-10) to just 20 percent shooting (4-of-20) from 3-point range in the win.

Tennessee State Troopers Look Beyond the Ticket and Arrest Drug Traffickers

 

Tennessee Highway Patrol - THPChattanooga, TN – On March 10th, 2017, Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Chattanooga District Troopers Kevin Hoppe and Larry Fowler were working along I-75 South in Bradley County.  They observed a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck commit a traffic violation around the 27 mile marker. 

Troopers pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver Robert K. Miller, 45, of Lincoln Park, Michigan.  While speaking with him, troopers could smell marijuana inside truck.  

When asked about any contraband in the truck, Miller said he had a small amount of marijuana, but did not know what was in the boxes in the bed of the truck.  Miller stated that they were loaded by a friend to be transported to Florida. 

Tennessee Highway Patrol officers make traffic stop and discover boxes in bed of truck filled with marijuana, 64 pounds of THC edibles and 263 bottles (3,156 fluid ounces) of THC infused drinks and syrup.

Belmont swept the doubles point before taking five of the six singles matches.

Austin Peay State University student Cassidy Graves lands full-time social media internship with Disney

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – When Austin Peay State University student Cassidy Graves graduates in May with a bachelor’s degree in communication, she will quickly be trading in her monocle for mouse ears.

That’s because in June, Graves is set to relocate to Florida, where she will join Disney as a full-time, professional intern with the House of Mouse’s Talent Acquisition Communications team.

Clarksville Police investigate Fatality Crash on Fort Campbell Boulevard and Tiny Town Road

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On March 17th, 2017 at 5:16pm, Clarksville Police Investigator L. Harris responded to a fatal crash at US-41A (Fort Campbell Boulevard) and SR-236 (Tiny Town Road).

Austin McElwrath, 21 years old, from Bumpus Mills, was driving a 2005 Suzuki Forenza in the right south bound Fort Campbell Boulevard travel lane waiting on a red light. His vehicle was struck from behind by Tyler Pettie, 25 years old, from Fort Campbell, KY.

On Friday, March 17th, Clarksville Police responded to a fataility crash on Fort Campbell Boulevard and Tiny Town Road.

Alex Robles with Austin Peay Baseball named APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN –  Austin Peay State University baseball senior utility man Alex Robles has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Tucson, Arizona, native followed up his second career shutout, Saturday, with a game-winning, walk-off home run to give the Govs a sweep of preseason Ohio Valley Conference favorite Jacksonville State to open the conference schedule.

In Saturday’s complete game effort, he struck out 11 batters—including six of the final nine—allowing just three hits and a walk. It was his fifth career complete game.
