Tennessee Consumer Affairs offers Tips to Avoid Tax Return Preparer Fraud

 

Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance - TDCINashville, TN – With the April 18th Tax Day deadline on the horizon, the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance’s (TDCI) Division of Consumer Affairs encourages residents to thoroughly  vet your tax preparer to help reduce the risk of fraud.

“Conducting research should be your first priority if you decide to have a tax preparer file your income tax return,” said TDCI Consumer Protection Director Cynthia Wiel.

The Govs and Bruins are scheduled to open the series with a 6:00pm, Friday contest followed by 1:00pm contests both Saturday and Sunday.

Clarksville Gas and Water phones back in service

 

Customer Utility Billing Line restored

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Gas and Water phone system is back in service and the customer Utility Billing Line, which provides a pay-by-phone option, is again available.

The phone service had been out Wednesday because of an AT&T phone outage.

Austin Peay State University introduces Matt Figger as APSU Men’s Basketball head coach

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University athletics held a press conference Thursday morning to introduce its next head men’s basketball coach for the first time since 1990.

Matt Figger, who served as Frank Martin’s recruiting coordinator and assistant coach from his tenure at Kansas State through this year’s Final Four run with South Carolina, was announced as the 12th head coach in program history, taking over for Dave Loos, who retired in March after 27 years at the helm.

Clarksville Police reports Pedestrian Struck Crossing Madison Street

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Thursday, April 6th, 2017, approximately 9:17pm, a 51 year old man (no address given) was attempting to cross the roadway at 1810 Madison Street, which is not a crosswalk area.

He stepped onto the roadway in front of a Chevy Impala, driven by a 57 year old female, traveling eastbound.

Junior Auxiliary of Clarksville to host Cheers for Charity, April 29th

 

Junior Auxiliary of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Junior Auxiliary of Clarksville will host the 6th annual Cheers for Charity wine tasting from 6:00pm until 10:00pm, Saturday, April 29th, at Sango Event Center.

Cheers for Charity is a blind tasting where teams of two are invited to bring three bottles of the same wine. Upon check-in, two bottles are bagged and numbered for tasting, while the third is set aside to be awarded as part of the Grand Prize. At the end of the evening, the winners of Best Taste will be announced and receive the Grand Prize.

Fort Campbell, KY – Military police platoons from the 716th Military Police Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Sustainment Brigade, 101st Abn. Div. tested their skills during a platoon external evaluation, March 13th – 17th, here.

Observers from 16th MP Brigade from Fort Bragg, NC and 101st Airborne Division, evaluated the Fort Campbell MPs on their ability to react to enemy contact, establish traffic control points, respond to site exploitation, evacuate casualties, and perform convoy security.
