APSU Women's Track and Field - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University track and field returns to a familiar haunt this weekend when the Govs make what’s become an annual trek to Bowling Green, Kentucky for the Hilltopper Relays, hosted by Western Kentucky, at Charles M. Reuter Track and Field Complex.

For a fifth straight season, the Govs will visit their neighbors to the northeast.

This season, 21 total teams, including nine from Division I will be in attendance, with Ohio Valley Conference foes Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Murray State and Tennessee Tech scheduled to be among the competing teams in the field.

In the jumps, seniors Chancis Jones and Kaylnn Pitts will split up the duties this week, each concentrating on one event. Pitts, the OVC leader in the triple jump, looks to extend her lead in the event, while Jones looks to better her season-best 5.72m mark posted at last week’s Florida Relays.

Speaking of extending an OVC lead, sophomore Savannah Amato will look to pad her advantage in the pole vault, while junior Gretchen Rosch and sophomore Dascha Hix look to move up the OVC best lists. Last season at this event, Amato hit 4.01m (13-1.75) at this event, becoming just the third Governor in school history to break the 13-foot barrier in the pole vault.

After a stunning third-place run in the 10,000m event at last week’s Joey Haines Invitational moved her into third place in the OVC, Emmaculate Kiplagat will try her hand at the 3,000m run this week, while senior Myiah Johnson will go head-to-head against Murray State’s Jabreuna Brimlett, another of the league’s top hurdlers, in heat one of the 100m hurdles.

Inclement weather is not expected to affect this event. Live results will be provided by Delta Timing and complete results and a full recap will be available at LetsGoPeay.com following Saturday’s competition.
