The Govs (14-22, 2-6 OVC) collected both of their hits in the opening game, a fifth inning two-out single by Drew Dudley and a two-out double by Kacy Acree in the sixth.

SEMO (17-16, 2-6 OVC) would only record six hits in Game 1, but two were home runs accounting for all three runs.

Besides Acree’s double in the sixth inning, the Govs also had a scoring chance in the fourth inning, with Emily Moore drawing a leadoff walk, and then stealing second, but the Govs next three batters went down in order.

Sidney Hooper (0-2) took the complete-game loss, giving up six hits and three runs, while walking one and striking out a career single-game high seven.

As tough as the opening game was for the Govs offense Game 2 turned out to be even tougher, with Austin Peay being no hit for the first time this year and the first time overall since Miami University turned the trick on February 13, 2015.

Only four Govs reached base in the nightcap, coming on walks to Moore and Cassidy Hale in the first and seventh innings, respectively, and Kendall Vedder and Christiana Gable reaching on SEMO errors in the fifth and seventh innings.

Autumn Hanners (6-8) took the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits, while walking one and striking out two.

The Govs will conclude their OVC weekend action on Sunday, 1:00pm, with a doubleheader at Tennessee Martin.
