The Govs (14-24, 2-8 OVC) saw its only two runs of the day come in the top of the first inning of Game 2, with Danielle Liermann blasting a homer over the 220-foot mark in straightway center field, which also drove in Emily Moore; who and opened the game with a single.

Liermann would also collect a double in the game, while Moore finished with three hits.

The home run ties Carly Mattson for the team lead, with nine, while also being the 37th home run hit by APSU this year to set a school record.

Unfortunately, those two runs would be the only scoring the Govs could muster, despite having scoring opportunities in the third, fourth and sixth innings, with Tennessee Martin (28-12, 7-3 OVC) scoring single runs in the first, third and fifth innings to take the lead, then pull away with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the 8-2 final.

Govs starter Kelsey Gross (7-7) took the loss.

In Game 1, the Govs were held to just one hit – a bunt single by Kacy Acree to lead-off the fourth inning – in being shutout for the third straight game, with Acree being hit by a hit in the first inning and a walk to Christiana Gable in the seventh being the only other base runners Austin Peay would get.

Autumn Hanners (6-9) took the loss, giving up only two earned runs out of the four scored by UTM, on six hits, two walks and two strikeouts in six innings of work.
