There were several games to play while everyone waited for the event to begin.

When the kids entered the area for the Easter egg hunt, they were giving a ticket for a chance to win door prizes after the event.

The four age groups for the Easter egg hunt were; ages 2 and under, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-11. The four separate areas had over 4,700 eggs scattered on the ground.

“It was fun working with all the kids and to see how they reacted to everything. It was very enjoyable,” said Tennessee Promise volunteer Johnathan Smith.

Each plastic egg contained candy like skittles, gummy dinosaurs, star bursts, and tootsie rolls while some contained tattoos, small toys and stickers. There were prize eggs mixed in for each age group.

“I think the event today was just wonderful. I loved the number of people that came out and the variety of people that came out,” stated event volunteer Beverly Guinn.

When the signal was given, the kids took off across the field grabbing as many eggs as they could. Once all the eggs were picked up, everyone began opening them to see what they contained and hoping for a prize ticket. Everyone was laughing and having a good time opening their eggs.

The prizes were Easter buckets filled with candy and goodies. The grand prizes were a large Easter Basket, a soccer ball, basketball and a couple of radio controlled cars.

“I think the event was great. Turned out to be a beautiful day for the egg hunt,” stated William Jackson, First captain with Cunningham Fire Department.

“We do this to give back to the community that gives so much to us. We enjoy it too. It’s great seeing all these kids smiling and having fun,” Jackson said.
