APSU Baseball gets 7-3 win at Western Kentucky

APSU BaseballBowling Green, KY – Austin Peay State University’s baseball junior starting pitcher John Sparks set the tone with four scoreless innings and the Governors notched a 7-3 nonconference victory against Western Kentucky, Wednesday night at Nick Denes Field.

Austin Peay (17-18) supplied Sparks early run support, using three doubles and a single to plate two runs in the second inning.

Nashville Sounds hit three homers in 9-8 win over Oklahoma City Dodgers

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – The Nashville Sounds blasted three home runs in a come-from-behind 9-8 win over the Oklahoma City Dodgers Wednesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Chris Parmelee, Ryan Lavarnway, and Matt Olson all launched homers to erase a 6-2 deficit and allow the Sounds (5-8) to win consecutive games for only the second time in 2017.

Parmelee’s blast gave the Sounds an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but starter Daniel Gossett couldn’t hold the advantage. The Dodgers (7-7) scored a run in the first, and then exploded for four in the second to take a controlling 5-2 lead after a pair of innings.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Warrant Wednesday, April 19th, 2017

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Warrant Wednesday is being conducted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) to help reduce the over 6000 active warrants on file.

Every Wednesday three wanted individuals will be spotlighted on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. They will be chosen based on felonies committed, number of warrants on file, or if they are considered dangerous.

This week’s Warrant Wednesday focuses on Thomas Chandler McLaughlin, Albert Thomas Byrd, and Nicholaus Allen Walters.

APSU Women's VolleyballFranklin, TN – The Austin Peay State University beach volleyball team earned their seventh win of the season after grounding UT-Martin 4-1 Wednesday afternoon in the Franklin Beach House.

The Govs will end their inaugural 2017 campaign Saturday and Sunday with the APSU Beach Bash at Nashville Beach in Joelton, TN.

Clarksville Police release update on Fairview Lane Homicide

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department reports that with the assistance of numerous law enforcement agencies (Lyons County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police (KSP), U.S Marshals of Evansville, and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation), a homicide suspect was taken into custody around 2:00pm in Kuttawa, Kentucky.

The suspect, Quentin Bird, 21, of Clarksville abandoned his vehicle in Kuttawa and broke into a residence.

Clarksville Police discovered a deceased female in an apartment on Fairview Lane during a welfare check on April 19th, 2017.

Clarksville Police requests assistance Clearing Streets for Rivers and Spires

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires will begin on Thursday and continue through Saturday evening. Clarksville Police need the public’s assistance to ensure the streets are clear of vehicles to facilitate safety and allow the event to be set up without obstruction.

Beginning Thursday morning, April 20th, not later than 6:00am, there will no parking allowed on Public Square, Strawberry Alley, Franklin Street (from First Street to Second Street), and First Street.

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department needs the public’s assistance identifying a suspect who has fraudulently cashed over $5,000 in checks using an ID stolen in a vehicle burglary.

Clarksville Police Are Investigating a Homicide on Fairview Lane

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Wednesday morning, April 19th, 2017 around 2:30am, Clarksville Police conducted a welfare check at an apartment on Fairview Lane.  When they entered the residence a female in her 20s was found deceased inside of the apartment.

The initial investigation points to the homicide as being domestic-related.
