APSU Softball splits doubleheader against Tennessee State

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team came away with a split in its Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader, Wednesday at Cheryl Holt Field, taking the opener 11-3 before losing a heartbreaker, 3-2 in the nightcap.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Warrant Wednesday, April 26th, 2017

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – Warrant Wednesday is being conducted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) to help reduce the over 6000 active warrants on file.

Every Wednesday three wanted individuals will be spotlighted on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. They will be chosen based on felonies committed, number of warrants on file, or if they are considered dangerous.

This week’s Warrant Wednesday focuses on William Ellis and Erastus Mummery.

APSU Men’s Golf finishes OVC Tournament in Seventh

APSU Men's GolfMuscle Shoals, AL – Swirling winds at the Fighting Joe at the Shoals wreaked havoc across the leaderboard in the final round of the 2017 Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golf Championships and Austin Peay State University men’s golf was not exempt from that fate, fighting the elements to the round’s conclusion, Wednesday afternoon.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office makes arrests in Woodlawn Aggravated Assault

 

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – On April 11th, 2017 Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call stating a man was bleeding and going in and out of consciousness at the 2800 block of Cooper Creek Road in Woodlawn. The victim was transported to a Nashville hospital by helicopter.

Investigators asked the public’s help in locating a man and woman involved in the aggravated assault.

On April 17th, 2017, Marissa Shay Denton was taken into custody and charged with reckless endangerment. Her bond was $5,000.

On April 26th, 2017, Dustin Michael Myer was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and theft. His bond is $260,000.

Clarksville Montgomery County School System has Four Schools named to 2017 U.S. News Best High Schools

 

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – Four Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) High Schools were named this week to the 2017 U.S. News Best High Schools rankings, with one awarded silver and three earning bronze medals.

Rossview High School was 24th out of Tennessee’s 480 public high schools, with Northwest High School, Kenwood High School and Montgomery Central High School holding the rankings of 37th, 38th and 39th respectively. Rossview received a silver award with the other three earning bronze.

APSU Basketball Alumni Tiasha Gray signs multi-year pro contract in Israel

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – After an impressive debut season overseas in Sweden, former Austin Peay State University women’s basketball great Tiasha Gray has signed a professional deal in Israel’s top league.

Gray will suit up for Bnot Hertzeliya over the next three seasons, with team options for 2018-19 and 2019-20.

Last October, the Clarksville native inked a deal with Swedish club Mark Basket where she went on to lead the league in scoring at 24.3 points per game and steals with 3.6.

Almantas Ozelis named APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Sophomore Almantas Ozelis, of the Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Ozelis was named adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Govs to an upset of Eastern Kentucky, which will be seeded second in this week’s OVC Men’s Tennis Tournament Championship. Ozelis and Aleh Drobysh teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, helping the Govs secure the doubles point, before rallying for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 1 singles against Ramon van Flymen.

Clarksville Police hold their first “Coffee With A Cop”

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, April 25th, 2017  the Clarksville Police Department partnered with the Starbucks located at 1674 Fort Campbell Boulevard and had their first local “Coffee With a Cop”. The event was held from 9:00am until 10:00am.

The citizens who came seemed very pleased with their interaction with the officers. There was a lot of good questions, personal and professional.

Clarksville Gas and Water reports Section of Riverview Drive Closed for Water Service Line Work

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water has closed a section of Riverview Drive from Poplar Street to Olney Street for water service line repair and maintenance work along Riverview Drive.
