Among the highlights in the opener was third baseman Danielle Liermann recording her 100th career hit, becoming only the second APSU softball player to record at least 100 hits in her first two years.

Louranda Sanders (1998-2001) was the first APSU player to reach the 100-hits in two-year milestone.

In the opener, Austin Peay (16-28, 4-11 OVC) scored a run in the first inning off a TSU error and a run in the second on a passed ball to go up 2-0.

APSU Softball - Christiana GableTennessee State (12-32, 2-14 OVC) would cut the APSU lead in half with a run in the third inning, then take a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth.

But the Govs would respond with five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, with Christiana Gable having the big hit of the inning – a three-run double – while Kacy Acree forced in a run with a bases-loaded walk and Danielle Liermann the other with an RBI single.

Liermann, Gable and Kendall Vedder would all finish Game 1 with two hits.

APSU Softball - Kelsey GrossThat would be more than enough runs for Govs starter Kelsey Gross (9-8) as she picked-up the complete-game victory, giving up seven hits and three runs while striking out three.

Austin Peay would close out the game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Acree and a RBI double by Liermann.

In Game 2, Tennessee State broke on top with two runs in the first inning, with the score would remaining that way until the bottom of the fourth inning, when APSU got on the board with Carly Mattson‘s team-leading 10th home run of the season.

APSU Softball - Rikki ArkansasThe Tigers would add what would be an important insurance run in the sixth inning, to extend their lead to 3-1.

Austin Peay would try to rally in the bottom of the seventh, getting a leadoff double from Vedder, who would come in to score to make it 3-2, on a two-out infield single by Rikki Arkansas, but that would be as close as the Govs would get with TSU getting the last out of the game on a pop-up.

Autumn Hanners (6-12) took the complete-game loss, giving up seven hits and three runs, while striking out two.
