APSU Baseball begins OVC Tournament play Tuesday

APSU BaseballOxford, AL – After winning its final two regular-season contests to forge its way into the 2017 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship, the seventh-seeded Austin Peay State University baseball team will face eighth-seeded UT Martin in a 6:00pm, Tuesday, play-in contest at Choccolocco Park.

Clarksville Police release Hands Across the Border DUI Checkpoint and Saturation Patrol stats

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On May 19th, 2017 between the hours of 8:00pm and 4:00am, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Kentucky State Police, Christian County Sheriff’s Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Hopkinsville Police Department, Clarksville Police Department, and several other law enforcement agencies conducted a DUI Checkpoint/saturation patrol on US41-A near the State line.

Troopers, Deputies, and Officers were looking for impaired drivers and took enforcement action on any observed violation. During this time, there were 427 vehicles through the checkpoint.

Clarksville hosted Weekend Sporting Events Bring 8,300 people, $3.2 Million to Local Economy

 

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – Visit Clarksville welcomed two major events this weekend that, combined, pumped over $3.2 million into the local economy.

The Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA) Track & Field State Championships brought some 2,520 visitors, including 600 athletes, who competed at Austin Peay State University’s Fortera Stadium for top medals in discus throw, high jump, long jump, shot put along with multiple track events.

Clarksville Police request Public Assistance Identifying Quik Stop Robbery Suspect

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On May 14th, 2017 around 10:30pm, Clarksville Police Officers responded to a Robbery at the Quik Stop at 531 North Second Street.

A male wearing a black shirt, khaki pants, and a white bandanna around his face entered the store, brandished a sliver/gray handgun and told the clerk to open the register.

The clerk opened the register and the suspect grabbed the bills and cash drawer.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Baseball have work cut out for them at OVC Championship

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s baseball team will open play at the Ohio Valley Conference championship, 6:00pm, Tuesday, at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, AL with their work cut out for them if they are to reach the NCAA Tournament.

The Govs (26-28, 13-16 OVC) finished seventh in the final regular-season standing in the conference and will open the tournament versus UT Martin (25-29, 12-18 OVC), the tournament’s eighth seed.

International Space Station Managers Give Go for Tuesday Spacewalk

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationWashington, D.C. – International Space Station Program managers have given the green light for a contingency spacewalk on Tuesday by two Expedition 51 crew members to change out a multiplexer-demultiplexer (MDM) data relay box on the S0 truss that failed on Saturday morning.

The cause of the MDM failure is not known. After a review of spacewalk preparations and crew readiness throughout the day Sunday, the decision was made to press ahead with the spacewalk on Tuesday. It will be conducted by Expedition 51 Commander Peggy Whitson and Flight Engineer Jack Fischer of NASA.
