Nashville Sounds fall to late Salt Lake Bees rally, 11-5

Nashville Sounds

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – For the second straight night the Nashville Sounds let a multi-run lead slip away. The Salt Lake Bees overcame a four-run deficit to defeat the Sounds 11-5 Monday night at First Tennessee Park.

Jesse Hahn was in line for his second straight victory as he collected his first quality start of the season but the bullpen could not keep up its end of the bargain.

One day after his birthday, the 28-year-old logged six innings and gave up just one run, a second inning RBI single to Tony Sanchez. He issued three free passes on the night while fanning three as well.

Tennessee Fire Marshal’s Office Emphasizes the Role Fire Safety Plays in Schools

Tennessee State Fire MarshalNashville, TN – As the start of the fall school semester approaches, the State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) reminds residents that the fire-safe behavior and habits children learn in school help keep them from harm while inside a school’s walls and sets the stage for a lifetime of fire safety awareness.

“We want school staff, students and parents to understand the importance of school fire safety planning and inspections for code compliance,” said State Fire Marshal and Commerce & Insurance Commissioner Julie Mix McPeak. “SFMO inspectors work diligently to uphold established school fire codes. Those codes are designed to prevent fire deaths and injuries and, in many cases, are a direct response to a tragedy that occurred in our nation’s past.”

Dodging the Roadkill: Lane Splitting

Dodging the Roadkill - A Biker's JourneyClarksville, TN – Lane splitting is a relatively new concept to me.  Since I’ve only been riding for 18 months, it’s not something I’ve ever done, but the concept is picking up steam across the country.

Lane splitting is riding a motorcycle between lanes or rows of slow moving or stopped traffic that’s moving in the same direction.  Sometimes called lane sharing, whitelining, filtering or stripe-riding, it allows bikers to save time and bypass traffic congestion.  It may also be safer for the biker than being stopped in congested traffic.

Now, I’ve avoided some traffic by passing on the shoulder, but at the moment, I haven’t had the “balls” to drive between cars and trucks that are backed up on the interstate.  It just never occurred to me to do that.  I don’t feel safe doing that.
