APSU Volleyball sweeps Murray State, Win Streak now at 11

APSU Women's VolleyballMurray, KY – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team got out to a hot start and could not be cooled off in a three-set Ohio Valley Conference sweep (25-21, 25-11, 25-11) of Murray State, Tuesday night, at Racer Arena.

It was the 11th consecutive win by Austin Peay (17-2, 5-0 OVC), one shy of the program record.

APSU Women’s Basketball kicked off preseason practice Tuesday

APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – The sound of basketballs swishing through nets once again filled the halls of the Dunn Center Tuesday evening as Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team held its first practice of the 2017-2018 season.

The water bottles are filled, the basketballs pumped and the coaches were ready for the start of another season.

Tennessee Receives $24.5 Million to Boost College Access Statewide

 

Tennessee Higher Education CommissionNashville, TN – The U.S. Department of Education has awarded the Tennessee Higher Education Commission a $24.5 million grant to increase the number of low-income students in Tennessee who are accessing and succeeding in higher education.

The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) grant will provide Tennessee $3.5 million in resources annually over seven years.

APSU Men’s Golf finishes ninth at Hummingbird Intercollegiate

APSU Men's GolfSapphire, NC – Perhaps finishing round two before darkness set in Monday evening helped Austin Peay State University men’s golf after all.

As one of six squads without an early tee-time today, a rested Governors squad moved all the way up to ninth thanks a final-round 295 at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate, hosted by Western Carolina.

APSU Women's GolfClarksville, TN – A pair of Austin Peay State University golfers pulled off top-10 finishes at the 2017 F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, leading the Govs to a fourth-place team finish at the annual home event.

The Govs shot 311 in the final round for a 934 overall, two shots behind Louisiana Monroe and UNC Asheville.

City of Clarksville announces 50 mph speed limit coming to Martin Luther King Parkway

 

New, lower speed limit will take effect Friday

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville says motorists should get prepared for a new 50 mph speed limit on Martin Luther King Parkway/State Route 76 from Exit 11 to Madison Street.

Clarksville Traffic Engineer Chris Cowan said the new speed limit will go into effect at 8:00am on Friday, October 6th, 2017 after all the new signage is in place.

The speed limit on Martin Luther King Parkway/State Route 76 between Exit 11 and Madison Street will be set at 50 mph, effective at 8:00am Friday, October 6th. The speed limit is being reduced to improve safety and traffic flow on the busy thoroughfare that serves as the southern gateway to Clarksville.

APSU to host Traditional Japanese Dance at Trahern Theatre October 4th

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Famed troupe Global Culture Nasu is making a special trip to Tennessee with a stop at Austin Peay State University.

On Wednesday, October 4th, 2017, Global Culture Nasu will return to Austin Peay’s Trahern Theater for its only public performance on an American college campus. The event is free and open to the public, with the performance beginning at 6:00pm.
