APSU Women’s Tennis off to hot start at ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships

APSU Women's TennisMurfreesboro, TN – A sizzling start highlighted by an undefeated morning propelled the Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team to a successful Day One at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The Govs went a perfect 3-0 in doubles to begin the day, following it up with an undefeated 4-0 performance in opening round singles to give the squad 22 straight team victories dating back to last weekend’s USC Upstate Invitational.

APSU Soccer loses late at Murray State, 1-0

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityMurray, KY – After two overtime matches last weekend, the Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team dropped a close match with Murray State, Thursday, in the Heritage Bank Battle of the Border.

The Governors defense was busy most of the afternoon, fending off five corners and 23 shots in the Govs final road match of the season.

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – In the second of three contests in the Sgt. York Trophy series, the Austin Peay State University football team will head to Music City to square off with in-state rival Tennessee State 6:00pm, Saturday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

The Governors are looking to regain their recent momentum after suffering a 34-14 setback to No. 4 Jacksonville State a week ago.

Tennessee Wildlife Federation Brings Teens Back to Tradition at Land Between the Lakes

 

Tennessee Wildlife FederationClarksville, TN Tennessee Wildlife Federation’s Youth Hunting & Fishing Program engaged Tennessee youth in outdoor recreation while building relationships to last a lifetime this past weekend October 4th-6th, 2017, at Brandon Spring Group Center within Land Between the Lakes National Recreational Area.

Five Tennessee youth and their parents shed technology and the comforts of home for a weekend in our nation’s public lands. The youth-parent teams were joined by Tennessee Wildlife Federation staff and volunteers, including Hunt Masters who are trained to engage youth in full immersion camping and introductory hunting experiences.

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Monday Night Football returns to Tennessee this week as the Tennessee Titans (2-3) host the AFC South rival Indianapolis Colts (2-3). Kickoff at Nissan Stadium (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for 7:30pm CDT on Monday, October 16th, 2017.

The Titans are back on Monday Night Football for the first time since 2014. They are 5-2 in their last seven Monday night games, including a victory in 2008, the last time they hosted the Colts on a Monday night.

The latest version of LetsGoPeay.com reinforces the athletics department’s commitment to providing Austin Peay fans with a top-of-the-line website to find all the latest news and information for each of the 16 Governors NCAA programs.

“We are excited to present a new look to LetsGoPeay.com,” said APSU Director of Athletics Ryan Ivey. “We believe the up-to-date design will present the best coverage of Austin Peay athletics to our fans. Austin Peay State University’s Martin Golson elected as Vice President of National Learning Center Organization

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University Director of the Academic Support Center Martin Golson was recently recognized as a leader among his peers in the learning center community when he was elected to serve as vice president of the National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA) for the 2017-18 year.

“If you’re working in a learning center, the NCLCA is something you should be a part of, because we certify professionals working in learning centers and learning centers themselves that promote standards of excellence,” Golson said. “I’m very fortunate to have been chosen by my fellow members (as vice president).”

Fort Campbell, KY – Pfc. Boaz Koski, the chaplain assistant for the 101st Special Troops Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Sustainment Brigade, 101st Abn. Div., earned the title of 101st Abn. Div. Chaplain Assistant of the Year, September 20th, here.

The Kalama, Washington native, who enlisted in the Army in 2016 as chaplain assistant, said winning the board was not just about showing his leadership his determination to win, but also a way to represent his family.
