APSU Men's GolfClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf will host its annual fall tournament, the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, beginning 8:30am, Monday, at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee.

A stout 72-player field awaits patrons of Greystone Golf Club this week, including a bevy of Ohio Valley Conference foes.

Clarksville Association of Realtors Raises $84,000 For Urban Ministry’s SafeHouse

 

Clarksville Association of REALTORSClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Association of Realtors’ Young Professionals Network (CAR YPN) raised over $84,000 for Urban Ministry’s SafeHouse from their fourth annual Handbags For Hope event held at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center on Saturday, August 12th, 2017. The check was presented to Martita Alvarez, Program Director for Urban Ministry’s SafeHouse.

Handbags For Hope featured over 400 handbags in a silent and live auction. The live auction featured themed bags with special items inside, some being auctioned for as much as $6,500.

APSU Women's VolleyballJacksonville, AL – Freshman Brooke Moore powered her way to 12 kills and Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team posted a three-set Ohio Valley Conference sweep (25-19, 27-25, 25-16) against Jacksonville State, Sunday afternoon at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Austin Peay (19-4, 7-1 OVC) needed a big run in the opening set to recover from an uneven start.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – For nearly a quarter-million users of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s ‘On The Go 2.0’ smartphone app, finding a place in Tennessee to hunt, fish, boat, and view wildlife has become easier than ever.

“We have put a lot of time into improving our app and we are happy to announce it is now available and free to all who enjoy our outdoors and want to learn more,” said Michael May, a TWRA assistant director.

Clarksville Civil War Roundtable’s next meeting is October 18th, 2017

 

Clarksville Civil War RoundtableClarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, October 18th, 2017 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Tennova Healthcare. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.

The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Nashville State Community College presidential search committee selected, Public Forum and Committee meeting set for October 25th

 

Tennessee Board of Regents - TBRNashville, TN – A Search Advisory Committee has been appointed to lead the search for the next president of Nashville State Community College, and the committee will convene its first meeting October 25th, 2017 after a public forum to gather campus and community input.

The 19-member committee includes five members of the Tennessee Board of Regents, the college’s governing board, and representatives of the Nashville State faculty, staff, students and alumni and the region the college serves. It will be chaired by Board of Regents Member Joey Hatch, a Nashville State alumnus.

APSU CheerleadingClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University student-athletes are no stranger to competition. Each year, the Governors compete to be the best on their team, the best in their conference and some even push to rank among the best in the nation.

Very few have ever been able to say they took on the best in the world, but a trio of Austin Peay Cheerleading student-athletes got that chance recently — and they have the gold medals to back up their claim.

NASA’s Terra Satellite observes Smoke coming from Fires in California

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationWashington, D.C. – NASA’s Terra satellite saw a stream of smoke that extended over 500 miles from various fires raging in northern California out over the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer or MODIS instrument aboard Terra passed over California on October 12th and captured a visible light image of the smoke plume. The MODIS image showed the stream of smoke extending from Santa Rosa, California, located north of San Francisco, out into the Eastern Pacific, parallel to San Diego. A stream that stretched over 550 miles.
